What is Verification in software testing? or What is software verification?

What is Verification in software testing? or What is software verification?  http://istqbexamcertification.com/what-is-verification-in-software-testing-or-what-is-software-verification/ 231   55   31 It makes sure that the product is designed to deliver all functionality to the customer. Verification is done at the starting of the development process. It includes reviews and meetings, walkthroughs, inspection, etc. to evaluate documents, plans, code, requirements and specifications. Suppose you are building a table. Here the verification is about checking all the parts of the table, whether all the four legs are of correct size or not. If one leg of table is not of the right size it will imbalance the end product.Similar behavior is also noticed in case of the software product or application. If any feature of software product or application is not up to the mark or if any defect is found then it will result into the failure of the end product. Hence...

What are the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) phases?

What are the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) phases? http://istqbexamcertification.com/what-are-the-software-development-life-cycle-sdlc-phases/ 1119   191   287 There are various software development approaches defined and designed which are used/employed during development process of software, these approaches are also referred as “Software Development Process Models” (e.g.  Waterfall model , incremental model ,  V-model ,  iterative model ,  RAD model ,  Agile model ,  Spiral model ,  Prototype model etc.). Each process model follows a particular life cycle in order to ensure success in process of software development. Software life cycle models describe phases of the  software cycle and the order in which those phases are executed. Each phase produces deliverables required by the next phase in the life cycle. Requirements are translated into design. Code is produced according to the design which i...

What is Waterfall model- advantages, disadvantages and when to use it?

What is Waterfall model- advantages, disadvantages and when to use it? http://istqbexamcertification.com/what-is-waterfall-model-advantages-disadvantages-and-when-to-use-it/   1624   182   217 The Waterfall Model was first Process Model to be introduced. It is also referred to as a  linear-sequential life cycle model .  It is very simple to understand and use.  In a waterfall model, each phase must be completed fully before the next phase can begin. This type of model is basically used for the for the project which is small and there are no uncertain requirements.  At the end of each phase, a review takes place to determine if the project is on the right path and whether or not to continue or discard the project. In this model the testing starts only after the development is complete. In  waterfall model phases do not overlap. Diagram of Waterfall-model: Advantages of waterfall model: This model is simple an...

What is Spiral model- advantages, disadvantages and when to use it?

What is Spiral model- advantages, disadvantages and when to use it? http://istqbexamcertification.com/what-is-spiral-model-advantages-disadvantages-and-when-to-use-it/   1119   99   90 The spiral model is similar to the  incremental model , with more emphasis placed on risk analysis. The spiral model has four phases: Planning, Risk Analysis, Engineering and Evaluation. A software project repeatedly passes through these phases in iterations (called Spirals in this model). The baseline spiral, starting in the planning phase, requirements are gathered and risk is assessed. Each subsequent spirals builds on the baseline spiral. Planning Phase:  Requirements are gathered during the planning phase. Requirements like ‘BRS’ that is ‘Bussiness Requirement Specifications’ and ‘SRS’ that is ‘System Requirement specifications’. Risk Analysis:  In the  risk analysis phase , a process is undertaken to identify risk and alternat...

WORK BREAKDOWN STRUCTURE 101 By Duncan Haughey

9 Feb 2014 WORK BREAKDOWN STRUCTURE 101 The Foundation of Project Planning ~ By Duncan Haughey https://www.projectsmart.co.uk/work-breakdown-structure-101.php The Work Breakdown Structure, usually shortened to WBS, is a tool project managers use to break projects down into manageable pieces. It is the start of the planning process and is often called the 'foundation' of project planning. Most project professionals recognise the importance and benefits of a WBS in outperforming projects without one. What is a WBS? A WBS is a hierarchical decomposition of the deliverables needed to complete a project. It breaks the deliverables down into manageable work packages that can be scheduled and have costs and resources assigned to them. As a rule, the lowest level should be two-week work packages. Another rule commonly used when creating a WBS is the 8/80 rule. This rule says no single activity should be less than 8 hours, or greater than 80 hours. A WBS is deli...

WHY PRINCE2'S APPROACH TO QUALITY IS FLAWED by David Hinde

12 Sep 2010 WHY PRINCE2'S APPROACH TO QUALITY IS FLAWED https://www.projectsmart.co.uk/why-prince2s-approach-to-quality-is-flawed.php ~ By David Hinde PRINCE2  has many excellent ideas for project management, but I think its approach to quality is at best weak and at worst entirely inappropriate. My first gripe is that PRINCE2 redefines what the word quality usually means. My dictionary defines it as a "degree or standard of excellence, especially a high standard." If I've bought myself a quality car, I've probably purchased something like a Mercedes or Rolls Royce. PRINCE2's definition is something that is "fit for purpose" of satisfying stated needs. So for example, according to PRINCE my Landrover is a quality product. It's not luxurious but, as a keen skier, I can use it to haul equipment to the Alps each year. This re-definition of the word quality often confuses people, before they even look at the detail. At the beginning of ...
